Seller requirements

What you need before your shop goes live, and how selling on Baery works.

The short version
  • Joining is free. There’s no subscription, listing fee or payout fee.
  • To sell on the marketplace you need a registered business in the country you sell in.
  • You can build your whole shop before you’re registered. Only publishing needs it.
  • Customers pay in full, online, before you start baking. There is no cash on delivery.
  • You keep 82% of the goods and all of the delivery fee.

1. What you need to sell

Your shop goes live when every item below is done. The console shows a checklist next to the Publish my shop button, and the button stays off until everything passes.

Business registration

Many countries require online sellers to be registered, and require marketplaces to check. So every shop on Baery is a registered business, wherever it is. What that means depends on your country, but it is usually:

  • a business name registration with your government’s business registry, and
  • a tax registration with your tax authority, which gives you a tax identification number.

Under Business registration, the console asks for the documents your country needs. You enter your registered business name exactly as it appears on them, plus your registration numbers, and upload a PDF or clear photo of your certificate. We review it and tell you if anything needs fixing. If you later change any of these details, your shop comes off the marketplace until we have checked them again.

In the Philippines, for example, you need a DTI Business Name Registration, then a BIR registration, which gives you your Certificate of Registration (Form 2303) and your TIN.

A payout account

Customer payments go to your own account with our payment provider, Xendit, which settles them to your bank or e-wallet. Xendit verifies your documents and ID directly. Baery never sees your ID. Your bank or e-wallet account must be in your registered business name, exactly as it appears on your registration. Xendit rejects a mismatch.

A complete shop

  • a short description of your shop;
  • a mobile number customers can reach you on;
  • your pickup address and your area (region and city), so customers can find you;
  • pickup, delivery, or both, and if you deliver, your delivery fee;
  • at least one product listed on the marketplace, with a price and how much notice you need. Good photos matter: we recommend 3–5 of your actual bakes.

The baker terms

The first time you publish, you’re asked to accept the baker terms. If they change, you accept the new version the next time you publish.

What you don’t need

Recipes, costing, inventory and the orders you record yourself need no documents at all. Everything in the app and console works from day one. Your shop, products and prices can all be ready and waiting for the day you’re verified.

2. How it works

  1. Set up your shop. Sign in to the console or the Baery baker app. Add your shop details, photos and products.
  2. Get verified. Submit your business registration and set up your payout account.
  3. Publish. Once every check passes, publish your shop. It appears on the marketplace straight away. You can take it down any time, for any reason, with no penalty.
  4. Orders arrive paid. Customers pick pickup or delivery and a date your notice period allows, then pay online. The order reaches you, in the console and on your phone, only once payment succeeds.
  5. Bake and hand over. Update the order as you go, so the customer can follow it. For delivery, you book the courier. The delivery fee you set goes to you in full to cover it.
  6. Get paid. Your share goes to your Xendit account the moment the order is paid, and is settled to your bank or e-wallet on Xendit’s schedule. Baery never holds your money. The charge on the customer’s statement shows your registered business name.
  7. Issue the invoice. You’re the seller, so the official invoice or receipt your local tax rules require comes from you. Each order in the console has a field for your invoice number, so your records stay in one place.
  8. Handle problems. Customers have 24 hours after pickup or delivery to report a problem. You see the report and respond first, and most are settled there. If not, Baery decides. You can also refund any order yourself at any time. The refund and cancellation policy has the details.

3. Fees

  • Baery takes 18% of the item subtotal, only on orders customers place through the marketplace. Payment processing comes out of our share, not yours.
  • Orders you record yourself, such as walk-ins, phone orders and your regulars, are free.
  • The delivery fee is never part of the commission. It’s yours in full.
  • If we ever change the fee, you’ll hear at least 30 days before it applies.

Example: a customer orders 800 worth of cakes with a 50 delivery fee, and pays 850 in your currency. Baery takes 144 (18% of the 800), and you receive 706.

If a refund is decided after your money has settled, it’s recovered from your next orders. You’re told in advance, and you never get a bill.

4. What customers can expect from you

Customers read these promises in the marketplace terms, so by selling on Baery you agree to:

  • make what your listing describes, safely and hygienically, and fulfil the orders you accept;
  • tell the customer promptly if you can’t fulfil an order, and cancel rather than leave them waiting;
  • issue the official invoice or receipt the law requires;
  • use customers’ details only to prepare, hand over or follow up on their order;
  • respond to problems customers report, and refund them when a refund is owed.
